Cornerstone Center for Early Learning Receives $25,000 Grant from Bayer Fund

Donation to help support Cornerstone’s Nutrition Program into 2024

Saint Louis, MO / January 10 – Cornerstone Center for Early Learning announced today it received a grant for $25,000 from Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S. In line with Bayer Fund’s mission, this grant will be used towards building a better future by providing Cornerstone children with protein-rich food, fruits and vegetables to ensure optimal health and brain development.

Cornerstone enjoys a variety of partnerships as a way to further strengthen our programs. With Bayer Fund’s assistance providing enhanced nutrition for our children, we have the opportunity to expose our children to foods they may not be familiar with outside of Cornerstone.” said Karen Lucy, Executive Director at Cornerstone Center for Early Learning. “There is nothing more special than watching the face of a child experiencing a new taste or texture for the first time.”

In our mutual goal to see the communities we serve flourish, this Bayer Fund grant will ensure that St. Louis – area children in Cornerstone’s care will better be able to reach their social, behavioral, and academic potential. Because of enhanced nutrition, students will have improved concentration, consistent task performance, and achievement toward developmental milestones before they enter kindergarten.

“Through Bayer Fund’s giving, we’re enabling and strengthening organizations that are working to make real, sustainable impacts in their local communities across the United States,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “Programs like Cornerstone Center help combat the critical issue of food insecurity, and we’re proud to play a role with helping even more people in our community have access to healthy, nutritious food.”

In 2023, Bayer Fund awarded $12.1 million in grants to more than 2,300 charities and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in food and nutrition, STEM education and health and wellness. Since 2017, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received nearly $90 million from the Bayer Fund.
