About Cornerstone Center for Early Learning

Since 1969, Cornerstone Center for Early Learning has provided quality, comprehensive, and affordable child care and preschool education in a nurturing, creative environment for St. Louis-area families of all economic backgrounds. A licensed and accredited early learning center, Cornerstone serves children ages 6 weeks to kindergarten entry and is located in the Historic Shaw District in South St. Louis City. Cornerstone is located near Highway 44 and Grand Boulevard and is easily accessible by public transportation routes. Early childhood teachers have access to an indoor classroom, a certified outdoor classroom, a community garden, and more. In addition, teachers have access to an administrative building with a work space, a kitchenette and a break room.


Office Coordinator

The position of Office Coordinator is fast-paced and varied.  The Office Coordinator is responsible for keeping the office of Cornerstone Center a clean, organized, positive, and welcoming space.

The Office Coordinator works closely with the Office Manager and Center Director and reports to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to interface professionally with current and prospective families, donors, volunteers, and fellow staff members
  • Adaptability, with ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with a high degree of independence
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team, sharing in responsibilities, successes, and challenges
  • Technical proficiency using educational apps for phone and iPad, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and G Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Calendar), as well as familiarity with office phone systems

Expectations

Qualified applicants will be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds, be able to engage visually and verbally with children, and be able to write Standard English with reasonable accommodations.

Qualified applicants will also learn and follow Missouri Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers, Missouri Accreditation Standards, and Cornerstone’s policies and procedures.

1.           Maintaining a Clean and Friendly Office Space

  • Greet guests (parents, children, donors, visitors, etc.) kindly, with a smile.
  • Answer phones politely (Good time of day, Cornerstone Center, (name of person) speaking. How may I assist you?)
  • Keep shelves, cabinets, and desk spaces within front office clear of clutter
  • Keep shelves, cabinets, and desk spaces within front office clean
  • Assist new families with Procare set up and finding new classrooms
  • Greet and welcome volunteers, ensuring all correct waivers and forms have been completed
  • Welcome and greet guests with donations, filling out In-Kind Donation forms
  • Keep check-in tablets charged

2.            Inventory

  • Maintain inventory numbers of diapers and wipes
  • Maintain laundry room (main building) inventory numbers of gloves, tissues, step three, etc.
  • Maintain office inventory numbers of office supplies
  • Maintain adult bathroom supplies in main building
  • Maintain ASQ inventory, restocking when necessary (10 copies of each)
  • Maintain Hygiene Huts and Little Library, restocking when necessary

3.           Assist Administrative Staff

  • Write and deliver phone messages to staff and administration, being sure to take down and include the caller’s information
  • Notify appropriate administrative staff and teachers when a child is absent or late (Center Director, Program Director, and Office Manager included)
  • Receive and record tuition payments
  • Receive and record donations
  • File administrative paperwork
  • Create ID badges for new hires
  • Assist any administrative staff member as requested
  • Offer direct assistance to the Executive Director on various projects (as needed)

Lead Teacher

Cornerstone Center for Early Learning is seeking Lead Teachers to join our team of educators. In this role, candidates will provide essential, high-quality child care and preschool education through an engaging and Creative Curriculum to encourage healthy development. Qualified applicants will learn and follow Missouri Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers, Missouri Accreditation Standards, and Cornerstone’s policies and procedures. Educators will plan activities and experiences consistent with developmentally appropriate practice and Creative Curriculum in order to set children up for future success.

Responsibilities

  • Plan activities and experiences consistent with developmentally appropriate practice and Creative Curriculum in order to guarantee future success for students
  • Structure activities, routines, and transitions to minimize wait time for children
  • Evaluate progress, needs, and interests of children on a regular basis
  • Regularly provide care and education for children between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years (specific age range depends on classroom placement)
  • Understand and apply child development in all areas of curriculum, environment, and interactions
  • Complete at least 18 clock hours of Missouri approved training annually
  • Complete first aid/CPR class and Health & Safety Training within three months of hire and renew certification as required
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and/or in-services

Qualifications

  • A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential OR 9+ college credit hours in early childhood education, child development, youth development, or child/family related courses
  • Candidates must also be energetic, patient, and creative; be passionate about learning and children; have the ability to multitask; and have the ability to communicate and work well with others as part of a team
