CORNERSTONE CENTER FOR EARLY LEARNING RECEIVES $20,000 GRANT FROM MS. NANCY A. SITEMAN, SITEMAN FAMILY CHARITABLE FUND OF THE ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION.

ST. LOUIS, MO / April 1, 2024- Cornerstone Center for Early Learning announced today that it received a grant for $20,000 from Ms. Nancy A. Siteman, Siteman Family Charitable Fund of the St. Louis Community Foundation. This generous contribution will support the ongoing efforts of creating equitable access to literacy resources for all children through the Siteman Family Charitable Fund Books in Hand Initiative.

Aimed at encouraging language and literacy development in the homes of all Cornerstone children, every month children aged 6 weeks to 5 years receive a brand-new book to take home. Additionally, a classroom copy of the same book is provided, fostering a home-school literacy connection. This program aims to cultivate a love for reading at an early age, while also empowering families to actively participate in their child’s educational journey.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in literacy, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Karen Lucy, Cornerstone’s Executive Director. “The continuation of our partnership with the Siteman Family Charitable Fund fosters a culture of reading and learning that extends beyond the classroom and into the home.”

This partnership recognizes the critical role that a supportive home environment plays in a child’s development. The Books in Hand Initiative helps to ensure that every child has the opportunity to explore the world through books and unlock their full potential.
