In Missouri, roughly one in every ten residents relies on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to help meet their family’s nutritional needs. When interruptions or delays in benefits occur, many households—especially those with young children—can experience increased food insecurity and financial strain.
The Missouri Department of Social Services has announced that November SNAP (food assistance) benefits are temporarily suspended due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Families can click here to track updates from the state about SNAP and find answers to questions about the program.
While not all families will be affected, Cornerstone recognizes that any lapse in benefits can create stress and uncertainty when it comes to meeting basic needs. Even if you are unsure whether this situation will impact you, it’s always okay to ask questions or request information. Cornerstone wants every family to feel supported and know where to find help if needed.
